Each SMS Sportsworld is independently owned. Our first location opened in 1981, on Calhoun Drive, in Orangeburg, SC. Today there are 5 locations, more than any other independent sporting goods store in the state of South Carolina.

The SMS of SMS Sportsworld stands for the last names of the original owners: Sheridan - Metts - Salley.
SMS has two locations in our hometown of Orangeburg, SC, as well as locations in Aiken, SC; Manning, SC; Chapin, SC; and North Augusta, SC.
There have also been SMS Sportsworld locations in Greenville, SC; Spartanburg, SC; and Asheville, NC.
